Korean Language Faculty, LHSS Collaborates with Jeonbuk National University to Launch the 2026 Capstone Design Project
With the aim of enhancing the quality of education through a close integration of academic learning and practical experience, the Korean Language Faculty, School of Languages and Humanities & Social Sciences (LHSS), Duy Tan University, in collaboration with Jeonbuk National University (South Korea), organized the Capstone Design Project. Held from August 23 to August 25, 2026, the program provided a meaningful platform for cultural exchange and academic innovation, bringing together students from Vietnam and South Korea.

The project brought together 9 lecturers and 35 students from the Korean Language Faculty, along with 7 lecturers and 10 students from research institutes affiliated with Jeonbuk National University. As part of the program, students from the two universities were divided into 7 mixed research teams, with each team consisting of 3–5 Vietnamese and Korean students and receiving direct guidance and support from lecturer pairs from both universities.
The project focused on exploring and comparing a wide range of cultural and social topics in Vietnam and South Korea across three main areas:
-
Culture & Traditions: The teams conducted comparative research on traditional festivals and holidays, including Lunar New Year (Tet) and the Mid-Autumn Festival; traditional alcohol culture and cuisine; as well as traditional martial arts, particularly Taekwondo and Vovinam.
-
Arts & Creativity: Students explored the beauty of traditional kites, as well as the similarities and differences between Korean folk paintings (Minhwa) and Vietnam’s Dong Ho folk paintings.
-
Communication (Writing & Symbols): The research covered traffic signs and public signage systems, along with the art of dynamic brush-lettering and expressive calligraphy.

Before entering the fieldwork phase and working directly in Da Nang, students from both universities participated in online training sessions and prepared their group projects starting in early August 2026. Immediately after the conclusion of the International Conference themed “Roots, Memories and Solidarity: Reclaiming Identity and Promoting Social Inclusion,” the teams officially entered the final stage of project implementation. The highlight of the program was the Final Project Presentation Conference and Capstone Design Project Awards Ceremony. At the event, the teams presented their completed projects and research reports, showcasing the outcomes of cross-border teamwork and innovative thinking.

The Capstone Design Project was implemented to create a practical learning environment and promote direct interaction between students of the Korean Language Faculty and students from research institutes at Jeonbuk National University, one of South Korea’s leading higher education institutions. Through group research activities, the program not only enabled students to enhance their professional skills, foreign language proficiency, and project-based thinking, but also provided an excellent opportunity to introduce Vietnam’s distinctive cultural values to an international audience. Furthermore, the event reaffirmed the strong and strategic partnership between the School of Languages and Humanities & Social Sciences, Duy Tan University, and its Korean educational partners.
